Good Friday is a solemn Christian observance occurring on the Friday preceding Easter, commemorating the trial, crucifixion, and death of Jesus Christ. It concludes Holy Week and commemorates Jesus' sacrifice for the forgiveness of sins. The day is characterized by fasting, contemplation, and lamentation, with church services focusing on the Passion and the Stations of the Cross.
Despite its somber nature, the day is called "Good" because Christians believe Jesus’ sacrifice was necessary for humanity’s salvation and prepared the way for the Resurrection celebrated on Easter Sunday.
Please join us this afternoon at 3pm for the Stations of the Cross at St. Mary's Church and this evening for the Passion of the Lord at 7pm at St Augustin's Church.
